Forfeit Policy

Mellennial Sports strongly discourages forfeits. Your teammates and opponents depend on your participation to ensure a full roster and competitive play.

At check-in, notify Mellennial Sports refs if:

  • Your team knows it will be short on players for the game, or
  • Your team expects a full lineup but is currently short on players

Forfeit Rules

Short-handed play is not an automatic penalty:

  • If your team fields players exclusively from within Mellennial Sports (not borrowed from other teams in your league), the game can proceed.
  • If your team uses players from another team in the same league, the game counts as a forfeit (though a scrimmage may still be played).
  • If you cannot field enough players to start, the game will be considered a forfeit after 20 minutes.
  • Once forfeit is notified to Mellennial Sports, the decision is final and the opposing team will be informed.

Substitute Players

Non-Roster Substitute Requirements

  • Pay a $20 substitute fee
  • Sign the waiver before the start of the game
  • Wear a t-shirt closely matching your team's colors
  • Substitutes are NOT allowed during playoffs
  • To be playoff-eligible, substitutes must participate by Week 3 of the regular season

For medical, injury, or relocation cases:

  • Submit proof to Mellennial Sports before replacing the player
  • Replacements in Weeks 1-3 must pay a $60 fee (three-game substitute fee) to be eligible for the remainder of the season, including playoffs
  • No replacements are allowed after Week 6 unless the team cannot field at least 6 players

Game Management

Questions for Referees

  • Only the team captain is permitted to ask the head referee for rule clarifications
  • Judgment calls made by referees cannot be questioned by players or captains
  • However, referees may consult with each other and team captains to discuss calls at their discretion
